- 1. Call for Applications
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is pleased to inform the general public that the Government of Mauritius is offering fifteen (15) scholarships to deserving Tanzanian students in the level of Undergraduate, Master’s and Doctoral programmes tenable in various Universities in Mauritius for the academic year 2026/2027.
2. Eligibility
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- A. Undergraduate
- Have an Advanced Certificate for Secondary Education or equivalent with a minimum of Division two;
- Have a minimum of five (5) credits for Diploma programmes; and
- Be above 18 years and not more than 26 years old by 01 January, 2026.
- B. Postgraduate/ Masters and PhD
- Graduated with a Bachelor's degree of at least upper second-class honours for Masters;
- Have a Master's degree for PhD; and
- Are 35 years and below for Masters and not more than 40 years by 01 January, 2026 for PhD.
3. List of Supporting documents
Applicants must include the following documents listed below:
(i) Certified copy of birth certificate;
(ii) Certified copy of bio data page of passport (if available);
(iii) Certified copies of relevant educational certificates and transcripts along with a certified translation if they are in a language other than English;
(iv) Copy of letter of conditional offer by a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius or copy of acknowledgement notice from a Mauritius public Higher Education Institution;
(v) Medical certificate issued by a registered Medical Practitioner in Section 6 of the application form. This should be appropriately stamped;
(vi) Study plan of about 750 words for candidates opting for a Master’s degree;
(vii) A detailed research plan of about 1500 words for PhD; and
(viii) Supporting statement from a prospective supervisor from a University for PhD candidates.
4. Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship scheme will support the following expenses:
- i. Tuition fees and course-related costs;
- ii. Living allowance; and
- iii. Return airfare.
5. Mode of application and submission
(i) Detailed information regarding the guidelines for application, application forms, list of public Higher Education Institutions in Mauritius, programs on offer, and duration of study are available on the following websites: http://ministry-education.govmu.org and http://highereducationmauritius.com
(ii) Applicants are required to fill in the application form electronically before printing.
(iii) Submit the completed application form and supporting documents and testimonials to the following email scholarship@moe.go.tz not later than March 20, 2026.
NB: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania will not provide a loan or grant for Candidates who will be offered this scholarship.
