Call for Applications: General Medicine Studies

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania is pleased to announce that the Government of the Republic of Belarus has opened applications for state-funded scholarships at public universities and colleges for the 2026/2027 academic yearQualified Tanzanian citizens are invited to apply for this prestigious opportunity to pursue General Medicine in Belarusian public institutions.

1.Fields of Study

General Medicine (offered at accredited Belarusian public universities and colleges). A full list of participating institutions is available on the official website (see Section 7).

2.Application Requirements

  1. i.   Fulfill admission requirements of both the Tanzanian education system and the respective Belarusian institution;
  2. ii.  Hold CSEE and ACSEE results with Division I, or be a First-Class Diploma holder. Final eligibility will be determined by the admitting university; and
  3. iii. Language proficiency: Most programmes are taught in Russian or Belarusian. Applicants without sufficient proficiency may be required to undertake a preparatory language course (usually at their own expense).

3.Scholarship Coverage

The Belarusian Government scholarship provides:

i.Full tuition (funded by the state budget);

ii.A monthly stipend, with potential academic performance-based supplements; and

iii.Accommodation in a student dormitory for the duration of studies.

4.Expenses not covered by the scholarship (to be borne by the student or other sources):

  • Flight ticket;
  • Meals;
  • Health insurance; and
  • Visa fees and migration registration

Important Note: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania does not provide supplementary financial support for this programme. Applicants are advised to secure independent funding for all costs not covered by the Belarusian scholarship.

5.List of documents to be submitted

Applications must include the following (with notarized translations into Russian or Belarusian where indicated):

  1. 1. Application letter (free-form, stating reasons for choosing General Medicine);
  2. 2. Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts, or a current student status letter with marks;
  3. 3. Copy of valid passport or national ID;
  4. 4. Proof of Russian/Belarusian language skills (if available);
  5. 5. Medical fitness certificate and official HIV-negative certificate; and
  6. 6. Character/reference letter from current institution (for students).

6.Application process and submission

Stage 1: Submission

  1. 1. Applications must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Nairobi, which is accredited to Tanzania, via email at kenya@mfa.gov.by
  2. 2. Do not apply via online portals;
  3. 3. A copy of the application must also be sent to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology via: scholarship@moe.go.tz and dhe@moe.go.tz
  4. 4. Deadline: 20 February 2026.

Stage 2: University Selection

  1. 1. Universities will notify shortlisted candidates of interviews by 20 May 2026;
  2. 2. Interviews (including language checks) will be conducted by 15 June 2026; (may be online); and
  3. 3. Successful candidates will receive admission invitations for visa processing.
