Objective The objective of this Division is to provide Teachers’ Education. Functions i. To coordinate teachers’ education; ii. To initiate and review teachers’ education policies, guidelines and standards; iii. To monitor and evaluate implementation of TDMS; and iv. To provide teachers’ education management support services. Teacher Education Division comprises two sections:- i. Teachers Development and Monitoring Section; and ii. Teachers Management Support Section. Development and Monitoring Section The Section is responsible for the following activities:- i. reviewing policy on teacher education; ii. reviewing teacher education curriculum, instructional materials and teaching learning methods; iii. setting standards of education, student performance and achievement for teacher trainees; iv. overseeing the professional development of tutors in teachers' colleges; v. monitoring projects and training programmes related to teacher education; vi. monitoring the quality of teacher education training, teaching processes and outputs; vii. preparing and integrating physical education into teacher education curriculum; and viii. issuing guidelines for special educational needs of students in teachers’ colleges. Management Support Section The Section will be responsible for the following activities:- i. reviewing teacher education plans and regulations; ii. processing applications and maintaining registers for the ownership, management and registration of teachers' colleges; iii. implementing Teacher Development Management Strategy (TDMS); iv. issuing guidelines for student selection, services and transfer in teachers' colleges; v. coordinating tutor recruitment, posting and deployment; vi. issuing guidelines on the management and administration of teachers' colleges; and vii. coordinating budget preparation and financial resources allocation to teachers' colleges. |
