The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) and the Chonqing Technical Institute (CQVIE) from China have inked a bilateral agreement to collaborate in pushing forward technical education in Tanzania.

Among the cooperation agreements between these institutions is the exchange of students and teachers (exchange program) to exchange experience in the skills they get in training.

Witnessing the stamping of the deal, Minister of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Adolf Mkenda said the move will enable Tanzania to have professionals with international experience.

“We need our people to be exposed to the outside world, when they come back home they will have different attitudes and hunger for changes impacted by those extraneous experiences.”

Moreover, Prof. Mkenda expressed that the cooperation has come at the right time since  Tanzania is in the process of major reform in the education sector.

Prof. Mkenda vowed that the Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will ensure that the partnership lasts and becomes sustainable for the interests of the two countries.
However, he detailed that one of the components of the agreement is that, the beneficiary students of the program will have the qualifications to work in various companies in China.
