The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the provision of education in the country through the formulation of various policies, laws, and guidelines from pre-primary education to higher education. In addition, the Ministry is responsible for supervising and coordinating the development of science, technology, and innovation, as well as promoting their application in various sectors including business, industry, agriculture, and daily life in general.

- In accordance with the Authorization Instrument issued on 19th December 2025, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology performs the following functions:
- 1. Formulating and implementing policies related to education, science, research, library services, technology, innovation, and the development of vocational training.
- 2. Promoting basic education through accreditation of teacher training and professional development for teachers.
- 3. Identifying and nurturing talents.
- 4. Supervising the development of training programs in Folk Development Colleges.
- 5. Managing the National Awards System.
- 6. Identifying and developing national skills requirements.
- 7. Establishing standards for the teaching profession.
- 8. Supervising school accreditation and regulation.
- 9. Managing educational publication services.
- 10. Promoting the use of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM).
- 11. Developing local experts in science, technology, and innovation.
- 12 .Coordinating research in science and technology.
- 13. Developing human resources and improving productivity among employees under the Ministry.
- 14. Coordinating the activities of departments, agencies, authorities, programs, and projects under the Ministry.
Objectives
- To effectively fulfill its responsibilities, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has set the following objectives:
- 1. To increase access to and improve the quality of education and training at all levels.
- 2. To formulate and implement policies on education, research, library services, science, technology, innovation, and vocational training development.
- 3. To strengthen regional and international cooperation in education, science, and technology.
- 4. To coordinate and strengthen research and innovation development for economic growth and industrial development.
- 5. To enhance the use of nuclear technology, provide related training, and establish regulations for its safe application.
- 6. To mobilize financial resources and increase investment in education, science, technology, innovation, and infrastructure.
- 7. To strengthen information management in the education sector, including e-learning initiatives.
- 8. To improve the working environment in order to enhance productivity and efficiency in service delivery.
- 9. To address cross-cutting issues within the education sector.
