The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training collects education statistics annually through annual censuses of its education institutions. This data is processed and published in two separate booklets and disseminated to users and stakeholders. The first booklet (Basic Education Statistics in Tanzania – National) contains data at national level and covers a period of five years. The second booklet (Basic Education Statistics in Tanzania – Regional) contains data at regional level and covers a period of one year. These publications contain data on pre-primary, primary, secondary and teacher education. Other areas covered include non-formal education, school inspectorate, education, finance and Vocational Training and Higher education. The data include student enrolments by age, sex and grade; teachers by sex and qualifications; school facilities, some basic education indicators, transition rates and examination results among others.
