These responsibilities are performed under the following sections:

  • Policy, Research and EMIS which includes Education Statistics:
    • Formulating Ministerial/Sectoral Policies in accordance with Macro-policy frameworks;
    • Monitoring implementation of the Ministerial/sectoral policy;
    • Review of existing policies so as to correspond to macro-policies;
    • Conducting and coordinating educational research;
    • Disseminating Research findings to stakeholders;
    • Collecting and analyzing basic education statistics;
    • Managing the Ministry’s Education management Systems (EMIS);
    • Preparing and Review of cabinet papers.

Planning, Budgeting and Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Preparing Ministerial plans and Annual Budgets;
  • Formulating programmes and projects;
  • Preparing the Ministry’s Annual Budget Speeches;
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of implementation of programmes and projects;
  • Coordinating the allocation and distribution of teaching-learning materials and processing of manuscripts for evaluation by the Educational Materials Coordination Committee (EMAC);

Physical Planning and School Maintenance

  • Preparing architectural designs and drawings for schools and college buildings;
  • Inspecting and carrying out preventive maintenance of school/college buildings;
  • Carrying out supervision of construction and rehabilitation works.
  • Designing furniture for schools/colleges;
  • Topographical surveys on existing schools/colleges and new sites;
  • Preparing tender documents, advertisements, analysis and tender reports for the Ministerial tender Board.
